How do I know which Lawson courses to take?

Lawson Learning Tracks will show you the way.

To help customers determine the appropriate training for their Lawson implementation, our Lawson experts in Lawson Professional Services and Lawson Learning have organized courses into role-based tracks. These learning tracks, which include Learning Labs and OnDemand Courses, provide a recommended sequence of courses according to your role within the organization and the solutions or applications you are running.

We've learned that these tracks are not only useful in new Lawson implementations, but also for upgrades and employee turnover. When used together with our training schedule, they give you the information you need to create a custom training plan for your unique situation.

Best of Both Worlds: The New Lawson Learning Management System

If you have registered for training with Lawson Learning in the past, you'll feel like you're meeting an old friend when we roll out our fresh learning management system on December 17. But this old friend will have a new hairstyle — and you'll think it's great! You'll feel the comfort of being with someone familiar, someone who knows your story. But you'll also experience the excitement of something completely new and better. Your user ID and password will work the same, your history will be retained, and you'll be ready to roll.

The new Lawson Learning Management System is much more than an online course catalog. It's a full-service planning tool to help you manage your unique learning goals. It offers learning tracks (link to Focus on Solutions article) to guide your course selection and includes an easy registration process. It allows you to purchase training, track attendance, launch OnDemand courses, and view a historical record of all your training activity.

“It also enables Lawson to go out and look at what Lawson training your staff has taken, including all the classroom courses and online courses,” explains Adam Palmer, manager, Lawson Learning Operations. “It's a very useful tool from a management perspective.”

Familiar Functionality. Better Interface. More Potential.

While the new system has an updated, fresh look, the functionality is similar to the old system, which was implemented over 8 years ago. “It was outdated technology and not able to meet our needs,” says Victoria Helseth, Americas Market Manager, Lawson Learning. “The new Learning Management System has the capacity to grow and adapt with us as our learning business expands. It also has improved stability from a technology perspective — and it's a system we can build on and enhance. For example, in the future customers will be able to create their own personalized portal featuring Lawson products.”

“The new Learning Management System supports Lawson's vision by providing a superior learning experience to customers in all markets that Lawson serves. Being introduced initially in Americas, the system will be expanded internationally in 2008, at which time it will support local languages, currencies, schedules, and other needs,” adds Alan Hupp, VP, Lawson Learning.
